Icontherapy from view of the clients

The thesis will be dedicated to the topic of iconotherapy, which the author already addressed in her bachelor's thesis. In the theoretical chapters, she presents iconotherapy. At the same time, it will clarify the theological views on the essence of icons as well as psychological connections (problems of motivation and will) and psychotherapeutic directions that are somewhat related to iconotherapy (logotherapy, existential approach of I. Yalom, orthodox psychotherapy). The work will include qualitative research, which will be carried out through in-depth semi-structured interviews with people who have undergone iconotherapy. A consideration of the possible application of iconotherapy will also be included.

Semiotics of note-taking in consecutive interpreting

The present thesis focuses on semiotic aspects of note-taking in consecutive interpreting, in particular with respect to the process of semiosis and factors influencing the interpreters' conception of their notes. Chapter 1 mentions the basic features of note-taking in order to trace its semiotic characteristics in the following parts of the thesis. In Chapter 2, the notes as a specific semiotic system are briefly discussed within the framework of the second Peircean trichotomy of signs (cases of iconicity, indexicality and symbolicity are demonstrated) and in terms of their function, productivity and spatial settings. After these general considerations, Chapter 3 introduces the main theoretical approaches to the technique of note-taking (principally those of the Geneva and Heidelberg schools) including the issues of the languages involved in interpreting or the nature of signs. As the accent is on the process of semiosis (apprehension of signs by interpreters, generating signs according to the meaning of the speech and searching for the motivation for the interpreters' concrete choices of signs and their form), the chapter lists some basic signs and methods well- tested by practitioners. MMS aneb Sémiotický potenciál obrazové výpovědi

In the first chapter we will have a look at the transformation and evolution of a photo-camera which on its way to become a medium ofcommunication came a long way from cumbersome glass-plate machinery to the current ubiquitous day-to-day personal digital companion. In the second chapter we will explore the effects of digitisation on the theoretical notion of photography and its position in the present context. Next we will touch on the movement of pragmatism (primarily those versions ofCharles Sanders Peirce and William James) that will allow us to regard our matter as a more holistic interactive problem than dissected pieces of a puzzle; and we will also recapitulate parts of Peirce's theory of signs that are relevant to our cause. The fourth chapter is about the ability of symbolic reasoning - a feature so unique in the world that it is only found in humans and whose principles are very close to the thought-sign system that Peirce devised. In the fifth and last chapter we will see how all that connects to the photographs themselves when they are used in the current digital intention-laden semiotic manner. I

Saint Francis' quest for the Crucified through the San Damiano Cross Abstract The encounter with the Crucified is the constitutive element of the spirituality of Saint Francis of Assisi. The objective of my thesis is finding the deeper understanding of Francis' perception of the cross. The topic should be elucidated by the San Damiano Cross Icon and other moments of the Saint of Assisi's life. The study of Francis' relation to the cross will be put into an appropriate context: the theology of the cross is mainly ingrained in the Jesus Christ's Mystery of Easter. This knowledge is deepened in life of the Early Church and, through the enriching epoch-making interposition even the "poor little" of Assisi may experience its fruits. In the fundamental part of the text I will organize the key materials for the study of Francis' relation to the crucified Christ contained in the franciscan sources with the help of the newest literature. Therefore the thesis will offer a complex view to one of the crucial moments of Francis' conversion. Phenomenon tetage, humans body as socialcultural and art document

ŠVADLENOVÁ, Jana. The phenomenon of tattoo, body as a socio-cultural and art document. Prague, 2013. Thesis. Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts. Supervisor PhDr. Jan Šmíd, Ph.D., 126 pages. Thesis "The phenomenon of tattoo, body as a socio-cultural and art document" is about tattoo as not only a form of body decoration, but as a possible theme in arts teaching. The author tried to map the history of this ancient ornamentation, to justify rising interest in it in the present and last but not least, tried to find a way how to present it to elementary school students in a comprehensible way. The thesis includes examples of possible reasons and ways of tattoo, while trying to find a connection to rituals (traditional and modern). The important part is finding options how to include this topic in the arts teaching at elementary schools and how to approximate possible pros and cons of this ornamentation.

Icon and spirituality

The thesis interprets the icon Transfiguration by Theofan the Greek. It collects the information needed for the interpretation. The first part is devoted to the meaning of a religious picture - an icon in the context of historical development of Byzantine art and Christian thinking. It presents Theofan the Greek as the author of the icon and the doctrine about the uncreated nature of the Light of Tabor, that emerged in his time and might have influenced his work. The second part is devoted to the nterpretation of the Transfiguration icon. It consist of an explication of the biblical texts which are related to the Transfiguration and reflects other possible resources of depiction: apocryphal texts and liturgy. The conclusion of the thesis holds the interpretation of the icon.

The Fast of the Eyes (Contemporary Sacred Architecture in Theory: Churches of the Holy Spirit in Ostrava and Šumná)

The Fast of the Eyes (Abstract) Analysis of the conditions of possibility of the dialogue that I lead with the building itself reveals the latter as an icon/event, and thus also provides one privileged method for unlocking its meaning - architectural θεωρία. Only in such a theory (which - at its purest - is performed by the elaborate interweaving of independent narratives), I argue, it is possible to see that which only makes architecture sacred: permeation of architecture and liturgy, building and community. The concluding answer (made possible by the account given) is - if the argument is correct - provided by the building itself.
